Improve Soil Health & Crop Productivity with Soil Carbon Amendment
Western Sugar is pleased to announce its inclusion in USDA’s Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities program. Ninety-six percent of funds provided to Western Sugar will go directly to farmers to incentivize adoption of Conservation Practice Standard 336 (Soil Carbon Amendment). Western Sugar, in partnership with local Land Grant Universities, has spent years optimizing Best Management Practices (BMPs) for this conservation practice. Following these BMPs, growers on over 6,000 acres have seen dramatic improvement in soil health and crop productivity. We are excited to expand implementation on over 15,000 acres between 2023 and 2028 using the funds awarded to Western Sugar by the USDA. For technical assistance and enrollment in this program, please contact your local agriculturalist or the Chief Scientist.
