Position Title:  Warehouse/Packaging Manager

 Position Overview:

The Western Sugar Cooperative has a challenging opportunity for a Warehouse/Packaging Manager leading the sugar packaging, warehousing, and bulk loading operations at our Fort Morgan, CO facility.  The position requires a very dynamic person with strong leadership skills and who will focus on continuously improving our packaging, warehousing, and bulk operations.

 

Essential Functions

  • Be a safety leader striving towards the goal of overseeing a zero-injury workplace; work closely with plant safety group to develop and implement safety plans, and lead by example
  • Establish a positive culture focusing on teamwork and accountability in key areas like sanitation, safety, and quality
  • Work closely with HR and Supply Chain to determine labor needs, establish training plans for employees, and provide an opportunity for career growth
  • Manage packaging line performance and efficiencies, employee training, and effective scheduling to meet and exceed customer demand
  • Oversee bulk loadout area and ensure that quality product is being shipped in a safe manner to customers
  • Effectively manage warehouse space to ensure product is not being damaged, lines can continue running, and FIFO is being utilized to ship out product
  • Manage sugar in and out of the bins, based on bin levels, quality of product, and customer demand
  • Use KPIs to evaluate overall performance, in order to provide insight on areas needing improvement
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to develop and implement plans focusing on preventative maintenance, evaluation of storeroom inventory, and identifying potential capital needs for improvements
  • Work with the Purchasing group to evaluate inventory levels and needs for packaging materials
  • Work with the Supply Chain group to understand packaging and shipping targets based on customer demand and clearing needs

Skill & Experience Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, industrial technology or business preferred.
  • A minimum 8-10 years as a proven leader in packaging operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with improvements in safety, productivity, and quality.
  • Great communication skills working with all levels, including hourly workforce and senior management.
  • Experience using continuous improvement processes like Lean Sigma and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Excellent computer competence (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong customer focus mind-set.
  • Solid leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities are essential.
  • Friendly, results oriented, high level of energy and collaborative.

 

Working Relationship:

  • Reports to the Factory Manager

 

 Travel Requirements:

  • 5%

Wage Range:

$90,000 – $105,000
