Title: Supply Chain Manager – Rail
This is a full time position

Position Overview
The Western Sugar Cooperative has an excellent opportunity for a Supply Chain Manager focused on rail shipping. This position is a key role within the Supply-Chain group working with rail shipping. The position primarily develops and maintains quality relationships with rail vendors, manages contracts, and ensures timely execution of outbound shipments with some inbound (coal). The person will interact with sales, customer service, customers, and transportation companies.
Essential Functions
- Safety leader with solid safety behaviors
- Develop and maintain quality relationships with railroads and car lessors
- Negotiate rail rates with railroads
- Create and maintain a rail shipping forecast model with production, inventory, and sales forecast information
- Perform daily shipping tasks to ensure rail shipments are released on-time
- Track and monitor the rail fleet (empty and loaded) to ensure efficient movement
- Manage demurrage
- Work with operations to resolve scheduling and performance issues
- Implement inventory strategies to enhance profitability
- Oversee inter-cooperative sugar shipments
- Prepare freight profitability report by customer
- Process and manage rail transportation claims and recovery
- Identify and follow-up on late rail car orders
- Analyze data related to all areas of rail operations
Skill & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Supply Chain or Logistics preferred
- 1 to 2 years of data analysis experience in manufacturing or logistics
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Analytical, accurate, timely with attention to detail
- Proactive in identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Excellent computer competence (outlook, word, PowerPoint, excel, SAP)
- APIC’s certification is preferred
- Strong customer focus, collaborative and results oriented mind-set
