Title: QA Supervisor
Location: Scottsbluff, Nebraska
Position Overview
The QA Supervisor is responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of food safety and quality management systems and process at Scottsbluff, NE and Torrington, WY facilities and Nebraska shipping terminals. QA Supervisor will be responsible for audit and regulatory compliance, assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved.
This position requires maintaining existing quality assurance standards and providing constant recommendations for improvements in the controls for storage, packaging and shipping of sugar and finished goods.
The QA Supervisor shall be responsible for the development and maintenance of methods for inspection, testing, sampling and training and assist in developing and maintaining quality and sanitation procedures and policies with Corporate Quality and function as an information source to all departments when special and critical quality issues occur.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor reports to the Factory Manager and the Corporate Quality Manager
Essential Functions Responsibilities
At a minimum, this position will include the following activities and responsibilities:
- Provide technical support, training and review of food safety, quality and sanitation procedures as well as policies to ensure they are effectively in place
- This will include but not limited to Quality Management system, master sanitation schedules, internal as well external audits including AIB and GFSI-BRC certifications, HACCP, GMP adherence etc.
- Determine overall plant product quality by assessing nonconforming product, and quality related to packaging and ingredients.
- Resolve major quality issues at packaging facilities, warehouse, terminals and areas required by Corporate Quality.
- Evaluate and take corrective actions when necessary with regards to product nonconformance, audit findings, HACCP deviations, etc.
- Leverage Continuous skills development to apply quality skills for employee training and development and work cross functionally on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields
- Maintain the plant QMS and update HACCP plans and quality manuals as required.
- Ensuring all corporate assigned quality targets and performance indicators are achieved and implement systems to drive the overall reduction of customer complaints.
- Supervise the sanitation staff; effective and efficient planning, scheduling and coordinating all sanitation personnel to ensure compliance to sanitation standard operating procedures.
- Liaise with Corporate Quality regarding customer and external regulatory audits and ensure proper implementation of quality procedures regarding customer and corporate product specifications
- Support plant quality best practices and own methodology to change to a zero loss culture in sustainable quality performance
Skill & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience
- Packaging and warehouse experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills resulting in the development of technical reports and procedures
- Relevant quality line control experience, including food safety, food security and HACCP
- Understanding of standard laboratory methods and testing practices.
- Experience with external regulatory audits and inspections
- Strong computer aptitude (Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, LIMS/WIMS, SAP)
- Good Organizational skills and training and presentation skills
- Friendly, result oriented, and collaborative
- Strong customer focus mind-set
- Self-starter and possesses the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
