Position Overview


  • The Western Sugar Cooperative has a challenging opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator. The position is responsible for leading the payroll process for approximately 150+ employees.  This position will report in a matrix organization to the Plant Manager and the Cooperate Controller.  The position requires a very dynamic person with the ability to provide outstanding customer service, great communication skills, analytical dexterity, a solid ethical and confidential ability, and must possess strong leadership skills.


Essential Functions

  • Prepare and process hourly and salaried bi-weekly payrolls.
  • Reconciles times cards from Time and Attendance to pay batches in Work Force Now.
  • Reviews employees time punch’s and schedules on a daily basis.
  • Reviews time punch report and compares with payroll report for inaccuracies.
  • Corrects any inaccuracies prior to payroll being transmitted.
  • Review garnishments and support to ADP for processing.
  • Distributes employee pay checks on time and accurately.
  • Ensure that computing of withholdings and deductions are done correctly.
  • Review bi-weekly master data in WFN.
  • Provide training to Supervisors and Manager on approving overtime.
  • Provide assistance with WSC’s policies and procedures for managers and employees.
  • Maintain and update payroll records.
  • Prepare monthly payroll reports and compare to budgeted hours and rates by cost center and position.
  • Other job duties as assigned.


Skill & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • Proficient in ADP Workforce Now required and ADP Enhanced Time and Attendance preferred.
  • 2-3 years experience in Payroll
  • Strict confidentiality a must
  • Knowledge of wage, benefits, union, and hour laws
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Friendly, results oriented, and collaborative


Working Relationship:

  • Reports to the Factory Manager with a dotted line to the Corporate Controller.


Travel Requirements, if any (please indicate percentage):

  • Up to 10%
