Salary: $105,000 – $135,000/year, depending on experience

Position Overview

Develops and designs human resources policies and programs and directs the human resources staff in managing and implementing programs that support employee productivity and company objectives. Manages various human resources functions critical to the organization, including employee/labor relations, health, benefits, training, employee engagement, and employee records. Develops and delivers internal staff communications. Evaluates, selects, and manages relationships with vendors to provide supplemental HR processes and services. Maintains employee records of pay, benefits, accidents, performance, and other activities and files reporting required to comply with labor laws and regulations. Collaborates with leadership on special projects.


Essential Functions

  • Lead the development of benefits packages that are flexible for employees and make sense for the Cooperative
  • Planning, organizing, and directing the actives related to health, life, dental, vision, short & long-term disability
  • Liaison with third party benefit companies and employees
  • Overseeing the reconciliation of premium reports from medical and other benefit plan companies
  • Planning, implementing, and/or overseeing the 401k and retirement plans
  • Participates in planning and administering health and wellness programs
  • Explaining and researching benefit policies for employees
  • Holding benefit orientations and enrollment meetings with training
  • Supporting employees with benefit claims processing and self-billing of insurance
  • Maintaining all pay changes
  • Preparing deduction/contributions reports for each payroll
  • Manages all COBRA processing with automated system
  • Prepares and maintains employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
  • Reviewing and assuring compliance with governmental agencies and laws regarding employee benefits
  • Overseeing the reconciliation of health plan monthly eligibility report
  • Be the primary knowledge source regarding employee policies and procedures
  • Conducts employee complaint and employee misconduct investigations
  • Manage the on-boarding process, including development and updating of on-boarding activities, materials
  • Works with managers to develop terms and conditions for new hires, transfers, and terminations, including compensation, benefits, and release payments
  • Responsible for monthly report detailing activities and action plans
  • Be a safety leader with solid safety behaviors and demonstrated leadership


Skill & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, with an emphasis in Human Resource or related field
  • 5 years’ experience with Employee Benefits and/or HR Generalist
  • Demonstrated experience with improvements in benefit administration and employee relations
  • Excellent verbal, written, group facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer competence (outlook, word, PowerPoint, excel, HIRS software)
  • Must be able to manage several priorities at one time
  • Strong customer focus mind-set
  • Solid leadership and influencing skills
  • Friendly, results oriented, and collaborative
