Mr. Steiger is a fourth generation sugar beet grower from Forsyth, MT. He operates a diversified irrigated and dryland cropping system in Rosebud and Treasure Counties. He raises 17 different crops, 6 of which are for seed. Mr. Steiger also maintains a custom pollination business which pollinates alfalfa seed with leafcutter bees. For a short period of time, he ran a custom spraying business as well.
Over the years, he has been a member of numerous boards. Mr. Steiger currently serves on the board of the Montana Alfalfa Seed Growers Association, Rosebud County Conservation District and is Vice President of the Montana Seed Growers Association. He is a firm believer in soil health. He has been no-tilling since he began his farming operation in 2007, and he began direct seeding sugar beets in 2017. When not farming, Mr. Steiger enjoys spending time on the Yellowstone River with his wife, son, and two daughters.
